Dr Peter Young MD, FRCA, MB ChB Peter has been a consultant in anaesthesia and critical care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn since 2000. Prior to this he trained in Edinburgh, New Zealand and in the Eastern region and he completed an MD at the UEA. Alongside his clinical practice he is involved in innovation for patient safety, being an Alumni of the NHS Innovator Accelerator programme and a mentor on the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme. He has published over 20 patents and these innovations have attracted in total 20 awards. He has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications, 10 book chapters/editorials and has been an invited speaker at 140 national and international conferences. He represents patient safety nationally, chairing the Association of Anaesthetists (UK) Safety Committee, Chairs their Standards Committee and co-chairs the Royal College & NHSI Safe Anaesthesia Liaison Group (SALG).In the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2022, he was awarded an OBE for innovation in healthcare in particular for preventing Never Events.
