Dr Nick Mani is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in Chesterfield ED, and a nationally recognised expert in POCUS. He cochaired and led the Royal College of Emergency Medicine POCUS subcommittee, including writing and implementing the latest 2021 competency based curriculum supported with study days and Train the Trainer initiatives as well as others. Nick has studied PGCert in medical education, and is a supervisor/mentor/trainer/faculty for FAMUS, FUSIC, CACTUS and other courses. He coined the term FEMUS (Focused Emergency Medicine US), and has written the first draft of the curriculum for it. Nick is a cofounder of the website/group POCUSUK focused on POCUS FOAMed mainly for acute, critical care and emergency medicine. Nick has also completes Master's degree in medical ultrasound with distinction in his dissertation on utilisation of bedside echo for assessing suspected acute nontraumatic thoracic aortic syndrome in adults that he has recently presented at a national conference submitting for publication. He has presented other work of his nationally and internationally, and continues to publish his research projects, as well as being a regular peer-reviewer for BMUS Ultrasound Journal amongst others. Nick takes a great interest in the governance and administration of POCUS. He published an innovative QIP, demonstrating that it is feasible to report and store POCUS clips on PACS.
