Dr Hayhurst has been a consultant in Emergency Medicine with an interest in Mental Health, High Intensity Use (frequent attendance) and Functional Illness. She chaired the Royal College of Emergency Medicine mental health committee for 6 years. She has been involved in research on High Intensity Use and in particular patients presenting with functional illness.
